About The Position

The American Medical Association (AMA) is seeking a VP CPT Product Management to lead the Product Management functions for AMA’s CPT (CPT) data assets. This role will drive innovation and delivery of market-leading health care products and services, develop the strategic direction, and provide business leadership for the continued growth of the product portfolio. The goal is to identify, develop, and champion innovation and new initiatives that establish the AMA as the authoritative source of trusted, essential data and solutions, ultimately driving transformation in the healthcare ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing required, advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum 15+ years of comprehensive product management experience in products, services, and general management within technology and/or a health-related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in people management, with the ability to attract and develop staff.
  • Extensive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and converting strategy into actionable initiatives.
  • Demonstrated program management and complex multi-faceted project management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to drive results and lead across the organization through influence and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to integrate people, processes, and technology.
  • Strong leadership skills necessary to be successful as a change agent and drive employee commitment and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HS CPT product portfolio, including commercially available CPT products and internal systems supporting the CPT Editorial process.
  • Formalize and embed a product portfolio management process to preserve current revenue streams and develop new ones based on strategic market opportunities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the strategy for the HS CPT product portfolio to ensure its long-term relevancy and viability, meeting marketplace expectations and maximizing contribution margin.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, prospects, and partners to understand their business processes and product needs, while staying aware of industry trends and potential threats.
  • Lead the product team in identifying new products and business opportunities, developing formalized business plans with financial, competitive, and market analysis, and collaborating on go-to-market plans.
  • Collaborate with internal AMA teams and external organizations to advance CPT as an industry standard, supporting interoperability and research.
  • Formalize and embed a product portfolio management process to preserve current revenue streams and develop new ones based on strategic market opportunities.
  • Establish the HS Product Portfolio roadmaps.
  • Externally represent the AMA as an expert on CPT to the healthcare industry.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the organization’s ability to meet its strategic, financial data, and product launch goals.
  • Serve as a member of the HS Leadership team, contributing to the development of HS Strategic and Operational Plans.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight for staff, setting objectives, evaluating performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Develop staff knowledge and skills to support career development.
