About The Position

This role leads enterprise-level business services risk and analytics strategy by developing and executing data-driven approaches that balance risk and return, optimize portfolio performance, and enable sustainable growth across lending and deposit products. The ideal candidate is a strategic risk and analytics leader who leverages advanced data, segmentation, and performance insights to design, implement, and continuously refine credit, pricing, and risk strategies that protect the organization while delivering financial value and strong member outcomes. This position partners cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Operations, and senior leadership to translate portfolio performance, risk trends, and market dynamics into actionable strategies, ensuring aligned execution, regulatory compliance, and high-impact decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline required
  • 10+ years of analytics and risk management experience with an emphasis on business lending. required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct implementation of origination and portfolio strategies to assess, manage and mitigate risk (credit, fraud, retention, etc.) for business lending and deposit products.
  • Coordinate with Product Management, Operations and Finance teams to develop and implement risk and pricing strategies that deliver appropriate economic returns for Golden 1.
  • Develop overall customer-based strategy and segmentation across products.
  • Design and manage risk analytics and reporting to balance risk/return and data-driven decisions for strategic planning.
  • Build out experimental design approaches for learning and ensure Golden 1 data structure supports this direction.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Identify risks to the organization via ongoing reporting and surveillance of key metrics and portfolio trends.
  • Ensure risk metrics and risk reporting are appropriate and adequate for risk monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and streamline risk processes, driving automation, efficiency, and improved member experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in retail risk management, and direct relevant changes to enhance the organization's risk operations.
  • Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements related to retail financial services products.
  • Ensure that product risk is managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Hire/Manage team to develop best-in-class financial services analytics/risk management capabilities.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to a team of analytics/risk associates, fostering a collaborative, engaging, and innovative work environment.
  • Promote continual learning, professional growth, and development within the team.
  • Participate in CRMC to monitor and discuss market conditions and associated impacts on credit and fraud risk as well as the strategic approaches to manage/mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, finance, operations, and IT, to align around business outcomes and foster effective partnerships to deliver defined outcomes.
  • Represent credit union in contacts with business and trade associations, members, and regulatory agencies.
  • Attend civil functions and otherwise promote the credit union’s image.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control budgetary activity for direct reporting departments.
