As the VP, Business Lending, you will successfully expand Dupaco’s presence in the Des Moines, IA community and surrounding area. You have a wealth of knowledge from years of experience with C&I lending and real-estate lending and want to share your passion for helping people, businesses, and communities grow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in business lending
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of business financial statements and cash flows analysis
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations governing business lending practices as well as collection practices
  • Excellent ability to systematically gather, read, retrieve, and interpret data in order to make effective decisions

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain collaborative internal and external relationships through internal peer groups / focus groups as well as various industry and/or community organizations both regionally and nationally.
  • Monitor current trends and insights brought forward by various surveys or other voice of the employee and member methods.
  • Provide quality service to members, potential members and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism in all interactions with coworkers.
  • Promote a professional image of the credit union at all times.
  • Proactively establish and maintain connections within the communities we serve to continue building the commercial book of business within the credit union (via community events, networking, social media, email, etc.).
  • Works with other areas as needed for member issues and needs, including Business Services, Business Lending Processing, DFS/DIS, and others to ensure any requests, needs, or challenges are acted upon appropriately.
  • Successfully demonstrates effective selling skills and behaviors including loan fee generation, loan portfolio growth and production, business deposit generation, as well as referrals into Business Services and other areas of the Credit Union.
  • Establish and negotiate, business loans and inform member of the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment schedule and collateral requirements.
  • Make calls to proactively deepen existing and build new business relationships.
  • Periodically collect and analyze information which reflects the current credit worthiness of applicant. Information may be obtained by direct inspection of the applicant's business and/or collateral, review of financial statements, personal interview, etc.
  • Monitor loan repayment activities and assist in collecting past due accounts, as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for team questions and assist with training and development of co-workers as assigned.
  • Meet portfolio management matrices including financial exceptions, borrowing bases, and annual reviews, and line of credit renewals.
  • Uses job knowledge to avoid challenges and deescalate as necessary.
  • Complete borrower onboarding including assembling appropriate borrower background information, financial statements, and other documents to evaluate credit worthiness.
  • Is able to support loan request through Internal Business Loan Committee with a complete package, borrower background, credit recommendation, and appropriate structure.
  • Has moderate to advanced credit and lending skills. May require assistance with loan structure for higher level committee review of complex credits.
  • Serve as a relationship manager and facilitate discussions with members on all matters related to other credit union services including deposit services, insurance needs, and financial planning support.
  • Manages transaction processes from initial engagement through final close, including structure, pricing, internal approval/compliance processes and documentation.
  • Aggressively grows and maintains a profitable book of business by successfully closing deals to meet or exceed individual and department revenue, contribution, fee income, loans and deposit goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
