About The Position

The Vice President, Brand Visibility & Communications is a senior, revenue-aligned leader responsible for elevating Urban One’s marketplace visibility, perception, and positioning to accelerate growth. Reporting directly to the Co-Chief Revenue Officers and sitting within the Sales organization, this leader ensures advertisers, agencies, and brand partners clearly understand Urban One’s scale, cultural authority, differentiated platforms, proprietary research capabilities, tentpole events, talent, and integrated solutions. This leader will develop and execute B2B communications strategies that directly impact revenue, driving awareness, demand, and marketplace credibility across industry, trade, business, and select consumer channels. More than a traditional PR function, this role operates at the intersection of Sales, Integrated Marketing, Research, Content & Programming, Audio, TV, Digital, and Executive Leadership, translating the company’s strongest commercial narratives into consistent marketplace visibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in PR, communications, trade marketing, media, or revenue aligned communications.
  • Proven track record of driving earned media aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Deep understanding of the advertising, agency, and media ecosystem.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to advise senior leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and measurable impact.
  • Proficient in PR and earned media platforms (Cision, Meltwater, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within digital media, audio, television, entertainment, or client-facing revenue organizations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a B2B communications strategy directly aligned with sales priorities, category growth initiatives, and enterprise partnerships.
  • Position Urban One as a must-partner, culturally authoritative, scaled media platform for brands.
  • Translate commercial strategy into compelling external narratives.
  • Secure consistent presence in advertising, marketing, media, and business trade publications.
  • Drive executive interviews, bylines, speaking engagements, and industry recognition.
  • Generate earned media that amplifies tentpole events, proprietary research, cross-platform campaigns, and key partnerships.
  • Partner closely with revenue leadership to align communications with pipeline priorities.
  • Equip the sales team with externally validated proof points and media visibility that enhance credibility and urgency.
  • Identify and secure strategic speaking opportunities and panel placements at key industry events.
  • Develop creative, cost-effective earned media initiatives tied to tentpoles, experiential activations, and cultural moments.
  • Amplify presence before, during, and after major events to maximize commercial impact.
  • Oversee earned media supporting original content, franchise series, national events, talent, and branded initiatives.
  • Elevate executives, sales leaders, and key personalities as industry voices.
  • Partner with Research to elevate proprietary insights, cultural data, and industry reports as thought leadership drivers.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior executives on messaging and positioning.
  • Oversee management of Urban One LinkedIn presence with a stronger B2B lens.
  • Lead and develop communications team members.
  • Provide oversight of external PR agencies and vendors.
  • Manage budgets, performance metrics, and reporting aligned to visibility and revenue impact.
  • Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines.
