About The Position

The Outreach Team is a premier national field firm partnering with organizations working to solve significant societal problems. They are hiring Lead & Deputy Directors to manage their offices in Virginia. Deputy Field Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local circulators for a door-knocking campaign. Directors will build an office from the ground up, train staff in the field, lead by example, communicate goals, and manage campaign reporting. This position is focused on ensuring reproductive rights are protected and restored across the nation and protecting democracy. The position is hiring immediately and runs through 11/5/24, with opportunities to extend. The location is Henderson, NV, with a strong preference for in-state candidates, and short-term travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team.
  • Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week.
  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.
  • Track record of equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
  • Familiarity with VAN
  • Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
  • Facilitation experience
  • Local knowledge/experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 15-30 hourly staff who will be collecting signatures for a state-wide ballot initiative
  • Set goals and hold staff accountable
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work
  • Go in the field yourself a few days per week to collect signatures, train staff, and help drive office goals
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Develop strategic plans to reach registered voters in assigned locations
  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
