About The Position

Vote Blue is a field firm specializing in face-to-face canvassing operations. At Vote Blue, we mobilize voters to get to the polls. Our field campaigns have provided the margin of victory in close elections at the local, state, and national levels. For this campaign, we are working on behalf of the Natural Defense Council Action Fund. The Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund is the political arm of one of the world's largest and most successful environmental protection nonprofits. This year they will be talking to tens of thousands of voters in battleground districts to elect climate champs to Congress – and they need help.

Requirements

Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week
Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement
Track record of equity and inclusion
Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
Facilitation experience
Local knowledge/experience

Responsibilities

Manage a team of 15-20 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to voters about defending reproductive rights.
Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
Develop strategic plans to reach targeted voters in assigned locations
Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
