About The Position
The Outreach Team is a premier national field firm partnering with organizations to solve significant societal problems, currently focusing on environmental advocacy. The Field Director will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a team of local canvassers to engage voters at their doors regarding environmental advocacy. This role requires leading by example through active field canvassing, communicating goals, and managing campaign reporting.
Requirements
- Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
- Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week
- Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement
- Track record of equity and inclusion
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
Nice To Haves
- Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
- Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
- Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
- Facilitation experience
- Local knowledge/experience
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 15-20 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to voters about defending reproductive rights.
- Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
- Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
- Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
- Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
- Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
- Develop strategic plans to reach targeted voters in assigned locations
- Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
