About The Position

The Outreach Team, a premier national field firm partnering with organizations focused on issues like defending immigrant rights and honing Latino political power, is hiring Field Directors in Raleigh, NC. In partnership with Siembra, this role involves managing local offices and recruiting, training, and managing a team of canvassers to contact NC voters, with a focus on Latino voters, to grow community political power. The Field Director will work with the director team to build an office from the ground up, lead by example by canvassing themselves, communicate goals, and manage campaign reporting. The position reports to the Lead Director. The overall goal is to ensure families in North Carolina can live free from fear and build a better future, recognizing and representing the power of communities, especially the growing Latino population, in political decisions.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
  • Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week
  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement
  • Track record of equity and inclusion
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
  • Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
  • Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
  • Facilitation experience
  • Local knowledge/experience
  • Bilingual - fluency in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 40–60 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to voters about defending immigrant rights and growing Latino political power
  • Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
  • Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Develop strategic plans to reach targeted voters in assigned locations
  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
