Volunteers United Officer
About The Position
Volunteers United is Arc’s flexible volunteering program, connecting UNSW students with opportunities to create positive social impact on campus and across Sydney. Through regular volunteering opportunities, campus activations, Good Deed Days and partnerships with not-for-profit organisations, students can contribute to causes they care about, develop practical skills and connect with their community. As a Volunteers United Officer, you’ll drive the program’s day-to-day delivery. You’ll develop and promote volunteering opportunities, build relationships with not-for-profit partners, coordinate and support volunteers, and help deliver events, activations and Good Deed Days. You’ll also help grow an engaged volunteer community and create a positive experience for students and partner organisations. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about volunteering and social impact, enjoys bringing people together and thrives on building relationships. Requirements
- A UNSW student in 2027.
- Passionate about the primary objectives of the program and able to inspire and motivate others
- Understand university student’s needs and an ability to effectively incorporate these into the program's operations.
- Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and public speaking.
- High attention to detail with proven organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines, including the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Nice To Haves
- Experience coordinating, supporting or leading volunteers, student groups or community participants.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, community groups or not-for-profit organisations.
- Experience planning and delivering events, activations or small projects.
- Experience promoting opportunities and encouraging participation through face-to-face or digital engagement.
- Previous involvement in volunteering, community organisations, not-for-profit organisations or campus activities.
Responsibilities
- Support in the day-to-day delivery of Volunteers United opportunities, events and activations, including the planning and delivery of Good Deed Days
- Develop and maintain relationships with not-for-profit partners, recruit new organisations and collaborate on meaningful opportunities for students
- Recruit, train and support senior volunteers, provide clear guidance and build a positive and engaged volunteer community
- Promote Volunteers United to students and partner organisations, maintain opportunity listings and digital content, and respond to volunteer and partner enquiries.
- Coordinate project timelines, budgets, rosters and event logistics, while tracking participation and program metrics and completing risk assessments, evaluations and general administration
