About The Position

Unpaid volunteer contributing time to Intermountain Healthcare in various roles. Volunteers will follow the instructions of the therapy and volunteer office staff to assist with different activities in the therapy gym, help with therapy activities, clean supplies, and interact with patients and family members. Shifts Needed: Wednesday – 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm Thursday – 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm Friday – 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm Saturday - 9am-12pm Volunteers will follow the instructions of the therapy and volunteer office staff to assist with different activities in the therapy gym, help with therapy activities, clean supplies, and interact with patients and family members. Volunteer activities may include the following: · Greet patients and family entering the play gym. · Assist with/observe therapy activities. · Organize, clean, prepare therapy play supplies. · Interact with staff, patients, and patient families. · Observe speech therapists, occupational therapists or physical therapists

Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Be able to commit to 6 months of volunteering once a week for three hours.
  • Able to follow and execute instructions
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Able to work with children in varying age groups
  • Able to work well with diverse populations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitive to patient and family situations / dynamics
  • Maintain and respect professional relationships

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and family entering the play gym.
  • Assist with/observe therapy activities.
