About The Position
The Volunteer Parking Lot Attendant plays a key role at the Kaimukī-Waiʻalae YMCA by ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming parking experience for guests. This position assists visitors in locating available parking spaces, coordinates tandem parking when needed, and helps maintain a safe environment for both pedestrians and drivers in the lot. We are seeking a volunteer parking lot attendant who is available to serve during some or all of the following shifts: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and/or 4:00 PM–7:00 PM.
Requirements
- Friendly, approachable, and customer-service oriented
- Strong situational awareness and attention to safety
- Ability to communicate clearly using hand signals and verbal directions
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
- The YMCA requires all staff and volunteers to share responsibility for preventing child abuse by upholding professional boundaries, completing mandatory Praesidium training, and reporting concerns.
- All candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening, including criminal and sex offender checks.
Responsibilities
- Direct vehicles to open parking spaces
- Coordinate and manage tandem parking
- Monitor parking lot activity to maintain order and prevent congestion
- Assist guests with entering and exiting the lot safely
- Help ensure safe pedestrian movement by guiding guests across traffic areas
