About The Position

Catholic Charities, Our Daily Bread Employment Center, is currently seeking a Volunteer Manager. This role fosters a collaborative environment among staff and volunteers, ensuring effective volunteer management and community engagement to support program operations and client success. The position also involves cultivating donor relationships, coordinating events and programming, maintaining accurate records, and promoting volunteer opportunities to further the organization's mission and impact. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Weinberg Housing and Resource Center is a low-barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in the City of Baltimore. Our services include shelter, convalescent care, breakfast and dinner, showers, laundry, case management and a variety of life skills and empowerment classes – with a focused goal of assisting residents in obtaining permanent housing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years’ experience in volunteer or related position. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrates discretion and professionalism in all situations, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
  • Exhibits exceptional planning and organizational skills, ensuring tasks are executed efficiently.
  • Possesses the ability to influence and engage staff, fostering motivation and teamwork.
  • Utilizes effective conflict resolution skills to address issues and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Applies strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in utilization of computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required.
  • Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience in the United States, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence.
  • No state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers’ ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency.
  • Must not have more than three (3) points on their driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a collaborative environment for staff and volunteers, promoting engagement and growth.
  • Engage community partners in supporting clients’ transitions to employment, housing, and selfsufficiency, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure sufficient volunteer support to operate the program effectively and cover all shifts year-round.
  • Maintain complete and accurate volunteer records, including background checks, references, and evaluations.
  • Develop and update volunteer position descriptions, ensuring clear expectations and responsibilities.
  • Assist in writing articles, newsletters, and correspondence to build community relations and engage volunteers.
  • Produce reports on volunteer services, including program outcomes and engagement metrics.
  • Educate staff on building effective partnerships with volunteers, aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Oversee and implement volunteer training programs to ensure alignment with the organization’s culture and philosophy.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, secure speakers for life skills classes, and coordinate fundraising events.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of volunteer and donor data, including service hours and contact information.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and schools to enhance volunteer engagement.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts, aligning strategies with organizational needs.
  • Serve as liaison between the organization and community partners to strengthen relationships supporting the mission.
  • Coordinate corporate, business, and school service days, ensuring impactful volunteer experiences.
  • Manage material donations, cultivating relationships with businesses and donors to ensure appropriate distribution.
  • Conduct tours for community members and prospective volunteers to enhance engagement with the program.
  • Manage the organization’s social media presence to promote volunteer opportunities and engage the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
