About The Position

The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is essential to God’s Love We Deliver’s mission, ensuring that volunteers—the backbone of our organization—are fully supported, engaged, and empowered to make an impact. This individual in this role will lead volunteer recruitment, scheduling, communications, and recognition, working cross-functionally across the organization to grow, retain, and strengthen our volunteer community. This hands-on, high-impact position requires a strategic, organized, and personable professional dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that drives the success of our programs.

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years of experience in community engagement, workforce coordination, nonprofit operations, customer service, or related fields.
  • Comfortable with public speaking, leading orientations, and representing the organization at events.
  • Proven ability to work collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Strong organizational skills, including managing schedules, maintaining records, and coordinating communication across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience using data and reporting to inform planning, staffing, or operational decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a solution-oriented approach in dynamic environments.
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to work across multiple active locations, with travel between sites required.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key cross-functional partner, collaborating with staff across the organization to align volunteer support with operational and program needs and strengthen workflows, coverage, and readiness across all locations.
  • Conduct volunteer orientations and provide on-site leadership at shift start, ensuring volunteers are prepared and supported before handoff to staff and reinforcing high-quality volunteer experience.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders, including volunteers, community groups, and corporate partners, to grow and strengthen the volunteer program and foster a culture of care and inclusivity.
  • Represent God’s Love at community events, recruitment fairs, and organizational events to increase awareness and expand the volunteer pipeline.
  • Ensure all volunteer shifts are staffed to required capacity by monitoring coverage, identifying gaps, and implementing recruitment or outreach strategies as needed. Use volunteer data and reporting to inform scheduling, recruitment, and planning.
  • Oversee the day-to-day use and maintenance of VolunteerHub, including managing profiles and schedules, tracking participation, and generating reports to inform program planning, recognition efforts, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to capture volunteer stories and support content creation for social media, the website, newsletters, and public relations.
  • Plan and execute volunteer engagement initiatives, recognition efforts, and special projects that deepen volunteers’ connection to the organization and promote a welcoming, inclusive environment.
  • Communicate clearly with volunteers regarding schedules, expectations, updates, and policies.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of organizational operations to anticipate volunteer needs, recommend improvements in volunteer deployment, and contribute to ongoing program enhancement.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the mission, programs, and organizational priorities of God’s Love We Deliver.
