About The Position

Star Gospel Mission is seeking a passionate and organized Volunteer Coordinator to help recruit, engage, and support volunteers who serve alongside our ministry. This position plays a key role in building relationships with churches, businesses, schools, and community groups while ensuring volunteers have a meaningful and rewarding experience. This position offers the opportunity to help connect individuals and organizations with meaningful service opportunities that directly impact the lives of people experiencing hardship. The Volunteer Coordinator plays an important role in strengthening community engagement and advancing the Mission's Christ-centered work throughout the Charleston area. Each year, donors and volunteers help us serve hundreds of men facing homelessness, and several hundred Lowcountry families needing assistance with utilities, food, and other urgent household needs. Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum two years of experience in volunteer management, customer service, nonprofit operations, ministry leadership, event coordination, or a related field
Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules simultaneously
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software
Valid Driver's License required

Responsibilities

Recruit volunteers through churches, businesses, schools, and community organizations
Coordinate volunteer inquiries, orientations, onboarding, and training
Develop and maintain volunteer schedules
Support volunteer engagement, appreciation, and retention efforts
Build and maintain community partnerships
Coordinate volunteer participation for Mission events and service projects
Maintain volunteer records, databases, and participation reports
Assist with volunteer-related communications and storytelling efforts
