About The Position

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and coordinating the volunteer program for Hospice. This role involves the orientation, training, and coordination of all Hospice volunteers, as well as volunteer program administration and development across all service areas. The position requires adherence to Hospice standards, infection control policies, and participation in in-service programs and Hospice training.

Requirements

High school diploma
Ability to work independently, make accurate, and at times, quick judgments.
Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting.
Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes.
Ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency-related travel.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must maintain automobile insurance coverage.
Must have access to an automobile.
Completes Hospice training program.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field
Volunteer activity experience

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise delivery of all volunteer services.
Assign volunteers to service based on program needs and their interests and skills.
Assess and monitor a record-keeping system for services delivered and time involved.
Recruit, interview, and select volunteers.
Design and supervise the orientation and training of volunteers.
Monitor and evaluate volunteers’ performance.
Ensure volunteers' compliance with Hospice policies and procedures.
Plan and conduct volunteer support meetings.
Prepare services reports as required by the Director.
Facilitate community awareness and support of the Hospice volunteer program.
Maintain relationships with other program leaders.
Attend Hospice IDG meetings and act as a liaison between volunteers and IDG.
Adhere to Hospice standards and accurately perform all assigned responsibilities.
Comply with Hospice infection control policies and protocols.
Work with the IDG concept of patient care.
Participate in in-service programs and present as assigned.
Complete Hospice training program.
Perform other duties as assigned by Director.
