About The Position

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, scheduling, and coordination of volunteers across various programs. Working with the Director of Programs to be certain the needs of programs and volunteer task are completed as needed. While also performing a variety of labor-related tasks associated with the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food and donated products including pulling orders, unloading deliveries, repacking food products, operating warehouse equipment, and general maintenance and cleanup.

  • Must possess good interpersonal skills, including the ability to give kind and appropriate directions to volunteers.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a level of professionalism, promoting the Facing Hunger Foodbank’s community spirit and mission.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license from State in which employee resides.
  • Must have and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a repetitive basis and, occasionally, up to 75 pounds.
  • Must have a current Forklift and Pallet Jack Certification or ability to become certified.
  • Must pass the SERV Safe Food Handler Certification within 3 months of starting in position.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Three months or more warehouse experience and/or training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of Volunteers in the warehouse and designated throughout areas of the foodbank facility as well as community program distributions.
  • Data entry, upkeep of time recording of volunteer hours.
  • Stocking food and non-food products in the warehouse as needed.
  • Assist in picking program orders for packaging by volunteers and assists with client pickups to ensure that the invoices match the order provided.
  • Ensures shrink wrap and pallet tags are neat, free of debris and legible.
  • Assists with housekeeping of both Foodbank equipment and buildings.
  • Assists in verifying food safety standards are met for products and packaging materials through visual inspection, product handling, and temperature monitoring, as applicable.
  • Complies with all other aspects of the Foodbank’s food safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists the Warehouse Director with opening and closing the warehouse daily in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Warehouse Director and Inventory Manager with both daily cycle counts and monthly inventory, counting, and reconciliation.
  • Maintains current certifications and medical cards as mandated by Foodbank, state, and federal requirements.
  • Performs other related duties, as requested or assigned.
