About The Position

The Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. This position oversees volunteer engagement and community outreach efforts by cultivating meaningful relationships with individuals, organizations, and partners aligned with the Club’s mission and values. The Specialist ensures volunteers and community partners feel welcomed, prepared, and connected to the Club’s impact.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of office, customer service, or administrative experience; volunteer coordination experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, approachable demeanor.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with flexibility, initiative, and a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database systems; experience with Daxko and DonorPerfect preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driver’s license required; may be required to transport members.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or engage in activities with volunteers.
  • Comfortable working in a busy, team-oriented office with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • Must possess the energy, maturity, and emotional intelligence to interact effectively with youth, families, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Foster environments rooted in dignity, inclusion, emotional safety, empowerment, and relationship-building.
  • Support programs and volunteer experiences that affirm youth identity, voice, and lived experiences.
  • Design and maintain a high-quality volunteer program that meets all Club policies, safety standards, and operational needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteers, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive experience.
  • Recruit professionally skilled volunteers to support organizational and programmatic needs.
  • Screen and onboard volunteers in alignment with Club requirements and best practices.
  • Support the conversion of volunteers into long-term partners, advocates, and champions for the Club.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, including applications, background checks, training, and service hours.
  • Schedule and assign volunteers to appropriate programs, events, and projects across all Club sites.
  • Collaborate with Unit Directors and site leaders to identify volunteer needs and create meaningful service opportunities.
  • Provide trauma-informed orientation, training, and ongoing support to ensure volunteers feel confident and prepared.
  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition efforts to promote belonging and retention.
  • Track volunteer engagement metrics for reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and organize materials and supplies needed for volunteer projects and special events.
  • Seek out and attend community events to promote volunteer engagement and organizational visibility.
  • Support leadership of the Community Closet initiative by assisting with budgeting, inventory tracking, and facilitating community donation and resource requests.
  • Coordinate and engage volunteers to support Community Closet operations, including supply organization and food bag packing as needed.
  • Assist with facilitation of the Friend of the Club program through timely phone, email, and in-person outreach, follow-up, and relationship stewardship.
  • Represent the Club at community events, coalitions, and meetings.
  • Coordinate site tours for community leaders, partners, and prospective collaborators.
  • Identify gaps in community services and share insights with leadership to inform programming and partnerships.
  • Support and strengthen partnerships with schools, nonprofits, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
  • Work closely with Unit Directors, Assistant Unit Directors, and the Director of Operations to support site goals and operational needs.
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and consistently with staff, families, volunteers, and youth to build trust and positive relationships.
  • Partner with the Resource Development team to collect, analyze, and synthesize data for reporting and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and corporate partners to coordinate volunteer engagement opportunities.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, responding to behavior, conflict, or crisis using trauma-informed and restorative practices.
  • Ensure compliance with member supervision, health, safety, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with biannual safety assessments to ensure Club sites remain compliant and concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional, ethical, and organizational standards in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide backup support and coverage during staff absences to maintain program quality and continuity of care.
