About The Position

UNITY HOUSE OF TROY IS SEEKING SOMEONE PASSIONATE ABOUT COMMUNITY BUILDING, VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT, AND MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCES, WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW FUNDRAISING SUSTAINS OUR PROGRAMS, TO FILL THE VOLUNTEER & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR POSITION!

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and Nonprofit Development and nonprofit volunteer coordination and event planning experience a plus!
  • Clean & valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability for evenings/weekends as needed for both external and internal events and throughout the extremely busy holiday season.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with the public and representing the organization through networking, presentations, and tours.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including professional writing.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and reliable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and be on your feet for hours at a time during events.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge NXT, Constant Contact, and Social Media platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and manage volunteers and interns for programs and events.
  • Manage the full on-boarding process for prospective volunteers and interns.
  • Track annual volunteer and intern trainings for reporting and compliance.
  • Match volunteers and interns with appropriate Unity House programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Development Team to plan and support community events, fundraisers, outreach activities, and the Children’s Holiday Program.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Draft letters, thank‑you notes, and other communications to engage volunteers and donors.
  • Lead monthly volunteer info sessions and intern orientations as needed, ensuring all required trainings and background checks are completed.
  • Promote and encourage an environment of inclusion and belonging.
