About The Position

The Volunteer Experience Coordinator is a key position in our organization that helps us mobilize and inspire volunteers to join our fight to end hunger. This role involves creating and delivering a positive and memorable experience for the volunteers who contribute their time and skills to our mission. The Volunteer Experience Coordinator also communicates the impact and value of the volunteers' work and encourages them to spread the word about our mission. The Volunteer Experience Coordinator oversees all aspects of volunteer experience events, from planning to execution. This position recruits, orients, schedules, and trains volunteers, and fosters strong relationships with them. The Volunteer Experience Coordinator must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and volunteer management skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in human services/donor development or working with volunteers or other client/customer groups
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to guide large groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with database software; Golden (Volunteer Software) or Stratus Live (CRM) a plus.
  • Ability to work with multiple groups on projects and prioritize.
  • Physically capable of lifting thirty (30) pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Hosts and leads Volunteer Orientation sessions, providing an experience that is engaging, informative and inspiring.
  • Recruit and interview individual and corporate group volunteers through various methods, such as databases, email, social media, etc.
  • Assessment of skills, interests, and availability of potential volunteers and match them with suitable roles within the organization.
  • Support the stewardship and cultivation of volunteers to increase their support via philanthropy, advocacy and other avenues of additional support.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer information and assignments.
  • Management of volunteer and CRM platforms to keep track of volunteer profiles, hours, activities, and feedback.
  • Generate reports and statistics on volunteer performance and impact.
  • Provide training and orientation for volunteers, ensuring that volunteers are well-informed and prepared for their tasks and responsibilities.
  • Provide ongoing support and feedback to volunteers as they perform their duties.
  • Create, manage and update volunteer schedules for regular and special events.
  • Coordinate with other staff members and stakeholders to plan and organize events that require volunteer participation.
  • Assign roles and responsibilities to volunteers and communicate with them about the event details and expectations.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with all Food Depository departments to arrange volunteers as needed for organization-wide programs and projects.
  • Recruit, manage and lead Volunteer Advisory Committee and Volunteer Ambassador Programs
  • Execute and manage all volunteers needed for internal/external events
  • Communicate with volunteers regularly to ensure their satisfaction and engagement.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment for volunteers and recognize their contributions and achievements.
  • Address any issues or concerns that volunteers may have and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Assists with Annual Volunteer Recognition Event.
