About The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the organization’s efforts to build strong, meaningful relationships within the communities we serve. This entry-level role assists with community outreach, events, partnerships, and volunteer initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in engagement strategy, event coordination, and relationship management. The ideal candidate is organized, people-oriented, and passionate about making a positive community impact.

Requirements

  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience through internships, volunteer work, or entry-level roles.
  • Education/Certifications/Licenses : Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Evening and weekend availability as needed for events.
  • Required to maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordinating relationships with local nonprofits, businesses/corporations (i.e. Select Employee Groups), schools, and community partners, including responding to community sponsorship and outreach requests.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for corporate-sponsored/community events, sponsorships, financial wellness activations, and outreach activations, including help track participation, engagement, and relevant key performance indicators for community initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at community events alongside team members.
  • Support staff volunteer initiatives, including internal team communication, scheduling, and event-day support.
  • Executes the annual process of solicitation and review of scholarship applications for the Louis C. Addison Scholarship.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge with training in BSA Compliance - every staff member is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Program (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures. This includes required BSA reporting.
  • Comply with all Spero policies and procedures to ensure compliance w ith such regulations.
