About The Position

Brenau University Track & Field is seeking a motivated and passionate Volunteer Assistant Coach to assist with the continued growth and development of our NCAA track & field program. This position provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring coaches, graduate students, former collegiate athletes, or experienced coaches looking to gain collegiate coaching experience while working with a nationally competitive NAIA program.

Requirements

  • Collegiate throwing experience and/or coaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of throwing event technique, training principles, and event-specific strength development.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing young people.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coaching and development of throwers in the shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin.
  • Help plan and implement daily training sessions under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Provide technical instruction and event-specific feedback during practices and competitions.
  • Assist with athlete recruitment and talent evaluation.
  • Support meet preparation, travel, and competition-day coaching responsibilities.
  • Promote a positive culture that emphasizes academic success, character development, and athletic excellence.
  • Adhere to all NAIA, conference, university, and athletic department policies.
