About The Position

Catherine Cook School seeks a passionate and engaging Volleyball Coach. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment where students can grow both athletically and personally. The ideal candidate is confident leading groups of student-athletics (Grades 5-8), experienced in coaching youth sports, and able to design engaging practices, develop game strategies, and model outstanding sportsmanship while supporting the mission and values of Catherine Cook School.

Requirements

  • Experience in coaching youth sports.
  • Confidence in leading groups of student-athletes (Grades 5-8).
  • Reliability, punctuality, patience, and consistency.
  • Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules, needs, and circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Google and Outlook Applications.

Responsibilities

  • Fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment.
  • Leading groups of student-athletes (Grades 5-8).
  • Designing engaging practices.
  • Developing game strategies.
  • Modeling outstanding sportsmanship.
  • Communicating the vision, goals, and progress of work with players and their families.
  • Serving as an Ambassador for Enrollment Management and Development efforts.
  • Employing Google and Outlook Applications for individual and team collaboration and communication.
  • Planning and facilitating engaging, age- and skill-appropriate practices, activities, and athletic experiences.
  • Providing clear instruction, encouragement, and feedback.
  • Helping students develop athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Prioritizing student safety and well-being, including appropriate supervision and awareness of individual health needs.
  • Communicating effectively and collaborating with other coaches, supervisors, parents, referees, and school staff.
  • Adapting to changing schedules, needs, and circumstances while maintaining a student-centered approach.
  • Supporting event organization by preparing spaces, setting up activities, and managing student attendance procedures.
  • Modeling and demonstrating athletic skills, techniques, and positive sportsmanship.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $3,000 for the two-month season, paid in two installments.
