About The Position

To install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems that support voice, data, and video communications in residential, commercial, or industrial environments. This role ensures reliable connectivity by following industry standards, safety protocols, and project specifications to deliver high-quality, efficient network infrastructure solutions. The salary range for this position is between $24.00/hour - $28.00/hour, based on relevant education, experience, and other job related factors.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and coaxial cables
  • Familiarity with industry standards (BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA)
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, ladders, and cable test equipment
  • Comfortable working in ceilings, crawl spaces, and other confined spaces
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to follow highly complex directions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or approved equivalent.
  • Holds an OSHA 10 or higher certification
  • 2+ years of experience in low-voltage cabling or structured wiring installation
  • Requires sitting, prolonged standing, walking, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, and reaching over head with force. Also requires stooping, crouching, crawling on knees and work along floors/sub floors.
  • Ability to physically transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders off vehicle roof racks. Must be willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes overhead.
  • Maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements.
  • Willing to submit to all vaccinations and screening tests required for customer jobsite badging protocol.
  • Maintain a clear drug and alcohol screening protocol.
  • Maintain a valid Drivers License.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, fiber, etc.)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams
  • Mount and install telecom and network equipment such as racks, patch panels, faceplates, and jacks
  • Ensure cabling is installed per code, project specifications, and industry best practices (e.g., BICSI, TIA/EIA standards)
  • Label, document, and test all cabling connections using appropriate test equipment (e.g., Fluke testers)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues and cabling faults
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and project stakeholders
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to safety guidelines
  • Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used
  • Demonstrate ability to accomplish assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Provide accurate daily time entry according to Beacon Communications policies.
  • Overnight travel, as necessary.
  • Provide daily reports to Supervisors and/or Project Managers on work completed and issues related to project completion.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Beacon projects, and work toward advancement.
  • Wear Beacon shirts provided by Beacon Communications.
  • Arrive for work on time, dressed in a professional manner.
  • Realizing that customer relations and customer satisfaction is our primary goal, perform in a professional manner demonstrating courtesy and respect to Beacon customers.
  • Attend and take part in weekly safety discussion.
