Part-Time Vocational Training Coach (Food Service)

About The Position

The Vocational Training Coach supports Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley’s mission by providing vocational training to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role helps people identify career interests, build job skills, and prepare for competitive employment in the community. Support may include transitions from high school to adult services and training in customer service, food service, janitorial work, and other community-based experiences. The Coach develops individualized employment goals and delivers instruction through curriculum and work-based learning. The position works with individuals and their support teams, schools, families, and community partners, while promoting each person’s vocational interests, health, safety, dignity, and independence. The role may include arranging transportation to training sites, completing service documentation, maintaining required credentials and training, and complying with agency and regulatory requirements. No supervisory responsibilities are assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of or experience supporting people with disabilities in the community.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s liability insurance provider; promptly notify Human Resources if unable to maintain these requirements.
Maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
Complete and maintain applicable training requirements established by GESMV, Employment First, and the cited Ohio Administrative Code provisions.
Use discretion and independent judgment in oversight responsibilities and service delivery.
Communicate effectively and interact professionally and productively with a variety of people.
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks; demonstrate organization and time management.
Be self-motivated, a quick learner, and a creative thinker; take initiative, make decisions, and work well with little supervision.
Maintain confidentiality, reliability, and a positive approach to change.
Read and interpret safety rules, business instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and handle daily operational challenges calmly.

Responsibilities

Develop individualized job-related goals based on each person’s interests, strengths, employment objectives, ISP, and other assessments.
Provide employment training using curriculum and work-based learning activities.
Teach workplace readiness, teamwork, communication, self-advocacy, time management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
Support individuals with resumes, interview practice, employment-retention skills, and entrepreneurship.
Model and demonstrate tasks in food service, janitorial, and retail settings, and set goals with individuals to support task completion.
Use task analysis to break skills into small, clear steps when needed.
Support appropriate professional and personal relationship building.
Collaborate with schools, parents or guardians, community partners, and each person’s vocational support team; provide progress updates.
Report changes, incidents, and concerns to a supervisor in a timely manner.
Advocate for individuals’ vocational interests while ensuring their health, safety, and dignity in the community.
Provide or coordinate transportation to training sites as required, supporting independent travel where possible and using a personal vehicle, local transit, or company vehicles as appropriate.
Maintain required driving credentials and training.
Complete accurate and timely service-delivery, personnel-related, and other mandatory documentation.
Follow agency policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
