About The Position

The Vocational Rehabilitation Technician (VRT) provides direct administrative, technical, and client support services to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to ensure the effective delivery of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities. The Vocational Rehabilitation Technician plays a critical role in supporting eligibility determination, service planning, documentation, fiscal tracking, and participant engagement to help individuals with disabilities achieve competitive, integrated employment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit with Defensive Driving Course certificate (to be updated every 2 years).
  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation services, disability issues, and employment support.
  • Ability to organize, maintain, and manage confidential client records.
  • Strong computer skills, including case management systems, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with participants, staff, employers, and service providers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Sensitivity to cultural, social, and economic diversity.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in human services, social work, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in administrative support, case management, social services, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working or having a passion to work with individuals with disabilities or in a vocational rehabilitation or human services setting preferred.
  • Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting intake, orientation, and application processing for vocational rehabilitation participants.
  • Obtain, organize, and maintain required documentation including medical, psychological, educational, and vocational records.
  • Schedule appointments, assessments, and service provider meetings for participants.
  • Provide participants with information about program services, policies, timelines, and responsibilities.
  • Monitor participant progress and follow up on required documentation and service activities.
  • Provides transportation for participants to job interviews, orientations, and other essential locations that support their progress toward self-sufficiency.
  • Assist Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors with case file development, maintenance, and closure in compliance with federal, tribal, and program regulations.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate data in case management systems.
  • Prepare case notes, correspondence, and service authorizations.
  • Track deadlines, eligibility determinations, Individualized Plans for Employment (IPEs), and service delivery milestones.
  • Prepare purchase requests, service authorizations, and payment documentation for client services.
  • Track expenditures, vendor invoices, and participant financial support to ensure compliance with budget and grant requirements.
  • Maintain records to support audits, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinate services with training providers, employers, medical providers, and community agencies.
  • Support job development, placement activities, and follow-up with employers and participants.
  • Assist in outreach, recruitment, and informational activities to promote vocational rehabilitation services.
  • Ensure all client records and information are handled in compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and federal vocational rehabilitation regulations.
  • Follow all Yakama Nation and program policies, ethics standards, and reporting requirements.
