About The Position

This recruitment is for two Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors 1/2/3 located in Anchorage. These positions are in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 16/18/20. In this position, you will evaluate and determine client eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services, approve individualized employment plans, and authorize case closures. You will provide counseling and guidance to clients with disabilities to help them identify career goals, overcome barriers, and achieve meaningful employment. The role involves interpreting assessments to determine each client’s strengths, abilities, and rehabilitation needs while developing and implementing effective service strategies. You will also approve and monitor services such as assistive technology, medical or psychological evaluations, and training or placement supports in accordance with federal regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate with schools, employers, and community partners to coordinate services, promote program awareness, and support successful employment outcomes for clients with disabilities. This individual is to provide paraprofessional administrative and technical support to counselors and evaluators by performing routine, on-going assignments which focus on carrying out substantive technical aspects of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities. The mission of Vocational Rehabilitation is to assist individuals with disabilities obtain and maintain competitive employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college (for Level 1).
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, counseling psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a related discipline as defined by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) (for Level 2).
  • Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (for Level 3).
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of human behavior and performance in various contexts, mental processes, or the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Ability to assess client needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations.
