About The Position

The Vocational Rehabilitation Caseload Assistant (CA) will assist Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (VRC) and collaborate with support teams to assist job seekers in achieving their career goals and independence. The role supports various areas within the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), which provide services to eligible individuals with disabilities to help them attain and maintain competitive integrated employment. The agency works with adults seeking to enter or retain employment, and with youth transitioning from high school to college and/or the workplace. The position requires a valid driver's license for potential transportation of participants and daytime travel within Ohio. Employees must reside in a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • 24 months experience in the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services (e.g. job development, certified vocational evaluator, vocational specialist).
  • OR Bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, counseling, social work, psychology, disability studies, special education, business administration, human resources, economics or related rehabilitation or human services area.
  • OR equivalent of education and/or experience per Minimum Class Qualifications.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and with good judgment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (VRC) and collaborate with support teams.
  • Assist job seekers in achieving their career goals and independence.
  • Support the front door process of local offices (General caseload).
  • Assist consumers with job seeking skills training, interviewing skills, and securing/maintaining employment (Job Development caseload).
  • Assist internal staff to increase job placements within companies in the Business Leadership Network (Talent Sourcing Coordinators caseload).
  • Meet with individuals in subminimum wage employment to promote opportunities for competitive integrated employment and share information about supported employment services and career options (Career Resources caseload).
  • Support the PCA program, which provides reimbursement funds to individuals with severe physical disabilities requiring a personal care assistant for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) (Personal Care Assistance Program caseload).
  • Transport participants with disabilities to various appointments and meetings as needed, such as job interviews, hiring events, and other employment-related activities (Job Development caseload assignment required).
  • Perform daytime travel within Ohio as required by caseload assignment.
