About The Position

The VN program Coordinator works with and functions under the supervision of the Campus VN Program Director and VN Assistant Program Director for the Vocational Nursing Program. This role involves assisting in the planning, development, management, updating, and evaluation of all aspects of the program. The coordinator also plays a key role in preparing documentation for state and Board requirements, training and developing faculty, and ensuring the quality of instruction and student records. Additionally, the position provides student advising and support, ensuring students meet graduation and licensing exam requirements. The role may also involve teaching theory or clinical courses as needed.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid, clear and current active license as a Vocational or Registered Nurse in assigned state.
  • 3 years bedside experience with RN/BSN or 6 years bedside experience with LVN/Associates Degree
  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience as a registered nurse or vocational nurse; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination thereof.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • The ability to communicate pertinent information in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
  • The ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with planning, developing, managing, updating and evaluating all aspects of the program.
  • Assists with preparing data and other written materials for all required state and Board requirements including reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, audits, and site visits.
  • Assist in the training of new faculty and the professional development of existing faculty.
  • Assist in planning faculty staffing to ensure course coverage.
  • Ensures theory and clinical evaluations are completed in a timely manner by assigned faculty.
  • Assists in gathering evaluations from students, clinical sites. representatives, and faculty upon completion of each clinical rotation.
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure program quality.
  • Makes continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction.
  • Ensures clinical assignments, clinical rotation matrixes and calendars are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures faculty are consistently following policies and guidelines as related to student clinical rotation experience.
  • Reviews student learning material on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensures student records are maintained according to policies.
  • Submits required program reports and forms to the Program Director in a timely manner.
  • Keeps current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Provides advising support and planning assistance to potential and current students.
  • Ensures all students have completed the necessary documentation and meet the requirements for graduation and the state licensing exam.
  • Teach (either theory or clinical) half of the time as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
