Requirements

  • A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (Maintenance “M1†/“M2†rating).
  • Six to ten years recent relevant experience in some or all of the following: Fixed wing maintenance experience on general aviation and/or large transport category aircraft, Rotary maintenance experience in light, intermediate, medium or heavy helicopters. Aircraft structural repair experience related to sheet metal, and composites.
  • Candidates must be committed to a team approach.
  • Demonstrate good written and oral English skills and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates will be comfortable in a computerized environment and demonstrate knowledge of programs relevant to their discipline.
  • The successful applicant will be able to encourage communication between students and faculty.

Nice To Haves

  • An undergraduate degree and post-secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience may be considered.
  • Aviation teaching experience would be an asset.
  • An Instructor’s Diploma or valid BC Teacher’s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
  • The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record with demonstrated learner-centred teaching philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments), course and program preparation and revision, student contact, student advising, evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.
  • Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration, pre registration duties.
  • Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations, participation on Okanagan College (OC) committees, attendance at articulation meetings, representing OC at other function, administrative and other duties.
  • Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
