About The Position

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate students in Vocational Education - Behavior Technician courses. This posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants for the 2027 Academic School Year. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply. Qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Noncredit Education Department members and Allied Health Department Members at one or more of LACCD’s 9 colleges. Final determinations of part-time Vocational Educational Instructor assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience related to the subject; or Associate’s Degree and 6 years of professional experience related to the subject.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.
  • A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant's expense after selection and prior to employment.
  • Fully vaccinated by November 8, 2021 or have an approved exemption, and provide vaccination status in compliance with LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach covered topics such as problem behavior, interventions, and ethics and professionalism.
  • Ability to teach classes in Spanish, Armenian and/or Russian.
  • Registered Behavior Technician Certification.
  • Demonstrated certification in Canvas or other online modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of Home Health Aides related courses within the Noncredit Vocational Education discipline.
  • Promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences.
  • Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas, hybrid, or hyflex modalities to support remote learning, if required.

Benefits

  • Salary begins at $89.72 per standard hour.
