About The Position

This role involves developing job leads by contacting employers, responding to postings, and conducting research. The Vocational Coordinator will prepare reports, draft marketing materials, and coordinate daily operations of Employment Programs in accordance with agency policies and regulations. This position also includes direct supervision of Employment Programs staff, assisting with recruitment and training, and maintaining contact with various stakeholders such as care managers, community agencies, families, and other service providers.

  • Knowledgeable in local economic and labor market conditions and trends; effective techniques for contacting potential employers; job development and job placement techniques, accepted standard employment practices; community resources and professional organizations; City, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and codes related to employment and Equal Employment Opportunity; modern office methods; emerging technologies and standard office productivity software and labor market programs to inform outreach efforts; understanding laws and regulations.
  • Must have a Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Must have own transportation with Proof of Insurance and Registration
  • Must be Computer Proficient
  • Smartphone Required

Responsibilities

  • Develops job leads by contacting employers in target industries; responding to job postings and ads; and conducting Internet searches.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence regarding job development and placement efforts.
  • Drafts marketing and promotional materials to advertise job placement services and activities.
  • Coordinate and monitors daily operations and service delivery of Employment Programs in accordance with agency policies and procedures, adhering to OPWDD and SED regulations and guidelines.
  • Directly supervise Employment Programs staff daily in regard to program operations.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and evaluation of Employment Specialists.
  • Maintain necessary contacts with care managers, community-based agency representatives, family members, residence managers, and other providers of service.
