VGS is a highly acclaimed, successful, private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) vocational rehabilitation agency with over 135 years of dedicated experience serving persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment. We are currently seeking to hire a Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator that will be responsible for performing the following job duties.

Requirements

A Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling; or A Masters degree in a closely related field (e.g. Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Communication Disorders, Human Services); or Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); or Current enrollment in a qualifying Masters degree program AND graduation prior to the hire date
Three years experience coordinating services for people with disabilities, preferably in a vocational setting
Knowledge of human services area (rehabilitation counseling, psychology, sociology, special education, social work, etc.)
Knowledge of the social field, principles and techniques of motivation, worker traits and characteristics
Knowledge of community resources, general and social services
Must have reliable transportation to meet participants in their community, attend community partnership meetings, and trainings.

Responsibilities

Evaluate referred program participants with disabilities who are interested in services through OOD.
Evaluate personality, vocational aptitude, psychological academic information, work skills, interests and attitudes, types and effects of disabilities and environmental factors.
Maintain contact with developed referral sources and informs them of eligibility decision.
Assume responsibility for vacant caseload as necessary and as assigned.
Assist with the referral of potentially eligible program participants to OOD for Eligibility Determination with the intent of connecting them in a time efficient manner to the VRP3 Program.
Counsel clients to determine understanding of, and respond effectively to disability attitudes and emotional condition and concerns to provide support, assistance and motivation.
Provide personal and social, as well as vocational advice, and attain client agreement to, and willingness to participate in appropriate individualized rehabilitation program.
On the basis of evaluative results, plans the client program to help the client meet vocational goals and expectations (i.e. counsel clients in program services, determine services as necessary, research resources and arrange for payment of services and financial assistance, set up individual programs).
Prepare necessary justifications, process reports and other required documentation related to plan activities, obtain approval of vocational rehabilitation, and obtain approval of plans from OOD as appropriate, and exercise fiscal responsibility for development and approval of all authorizations required under approved plans or programs.
Implement plans or programs and follow up on client progress and continued appropriateness of services.
Coordinate the provision of employment placement services for clients and evaluate all aspects of available jobs in relation to client disabilities.
Follow up with employed and rehabilitated clients to determine suitability of employment and the need for further services.
Review individual cases and entire caseload to determine if all clients are receiving appropriate services and if caseload shows responsible movement.
Work with OOD Liaison to ensure potential program participants are made eligible, or denied eligibility in a timely fashion.
Work with OOD Liaison to ensure Coordinators Case Load is always at or near maximum.
Work with OOD Liaison to ensure the recommended IPE is approved or modified as necessary and in a timely manner to maintain Case Load and individual program participant activity.
Ensure all vendor invoices are appropriate, consistent with authorization(s) and approved and paid by OOD in a timely fashion.
Regular attendance.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a positive manner that gets along with customers, vendors, program participants, co-workers and supervisors.
Responsible for following agency safety policies and maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsible for helping to identify and prepare individuals in the event of their absence for a short, intermediate or extended timeframe.
