Join Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) — a nonprofit serving Kansas City for over 50 years — as a Vocational Consultant, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through career discovery, job development, and long-term workplace success.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle
Ability to pass background screening
Ability to complete CPR, First Aid, and required employment-services certifications
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Compassionate, person-centered approach with commitment to community inclusion

Nice To Haves

1+ year experience providing employment support, job coaching, or community-based services
Familiarity with service coordination, IDD support programs, or vocational rehabilitation principles
Experience using Therap or similar data-entry systems

Responsibilities

Conduct discovery, exploration, assessments, career planning, and development of employment goals.
Support clients with job exploration, job shadowing, informational interviewing, assistive technology review, and skills assessment.
Facilitate job development, job placement, onboarding assistance, and on-the-job coaching as needed.
Develop individualized career plans that reflect strengths, interests, needs, natural supports, and workplace preferences.
Transport clients to assessments, interviews, community activities, and job-related appointments.
Maintain accurate case files, documentation, client annual intake paperwork, session notes, and summaries in Therap.
Build and sustain strong relationships with employers, volunteer sites, funders, families, and school personnel.
Complete required employment-support certifications during the first year and continuing education annually.
Collect satisfaction surveys from clients and families twice per year.
Support Summer Work Programs, intake processes, and job-coaching needs.
Complete Event Reports, follow timekeeping requirements, and participate in team collaboration.
