Vocalist/Dancer
About The Position
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is seeking talented individuals to join their team as Vocalists/Dancers. This role involves performing in multiple shows daily, requiring strong vocal abilities, good movement, and the ability to retain choreography and blocking. A key aspect of the job is comfort and proficiency in a flight harness, performing multiple flights per show while singing. The position also requires enthusiastic representation of the park with a positive attitude, high energy, and commitment to quality. Performers will participate in stage shows, meet-and-greets, and special events, while being open to feedback and critique to adapt performance accordingly. Responsibilities include executing pre and post-show backstage duties, adhering to safety procedures, and maintaining stage direction and show content as directed by leadership. A positive, flexible, and kind attitude is essential, along with positive interactions with guests and employees.
Requirements
- Perform various vocal selections from different musical genres
- Strong movement/dance skills necessary
- Must be able to sing while in a harness and engaged in a stage flight
- Ability to sight read sheet music
- Personable and animated with a fun, outgoing personality
- Ability to openly accept performance feedback/critiques and adapt accordingly
- Ability to work in indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions and temperature extremes while performing directed choreography, vocal selections and staging
- Demonstrated strong vocal and dance skills
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours; i.e. be able to work opening and closing shifts, as well as after hour rehearsals
- Ability to maintain assigned character integrity
- Be able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Stand, walk and/or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Additional requirements may include script memorization, role playing, comedic improvisation, and miming as necessary.
- Must be able to participate in an in-person audition at a pre-determined time
Nice To Haves
- Prepare 16 bars of two contrasting pop musical selections with tracks available.
- Have a head shot and resume to audition
- Prepared to learn a dance combination.
Responsibilities
- Perform 4-5 shows per day as a vocalist who moves well and retain dance choreography and blocking
- Must be comfortable in a flight harness and performing multiple flights per-show, while singing
- Enthusiastically represent the park by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy, and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
- Perform in stage shows, meet-and-greets, and special events as assigned
- Openly accepts performance feedback and critique and adapts accordingly.
- Execute pre and post show backstage duties as outlined in the daily schedule
- Ensure adherence to safety and procedural directions that accompany this position
- Consistently and expertly executes stage direction and show content as directed by leadership
- Maintains a positive, flexible and kind attitude
- Positively interacts with guests, employees, and others
- Perform other duties as assigned
