Join a team of master teachers and earn a $140,000 salary at The Equity Project (TEP) Charter School, featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and on 60 Minutes for its revolutionary teacher salaries and its outstanding results. TEP aims to achieve educational equity for students from traditionally underserved communities by utilizing world-class teachers, while re-imagining the teaching profession as a place in which teachers prioritize their own growth—as pedagogical experts, intellectual seekers, and community leaders. Watch the video below to learn more about TEP's investment in teachers. About the Role (Responsibilities) Applicants will be eligible for the Middle School Vocal Arts and Theater Teacher role, which serves students in Grades 5–8. TEP is deeply committed to music instruction, as evidenced by the fact that TEP students learn music every day, across every grade level. As one of the three pillars of our program (Academics, Arts, and Athletics), TEP treats Music as a full-fledged academic subject, not as an elective meant to supplement. You will collaborate with other middle school music teachers and grade-level teams to integrate vocal and theater instruction into a rigorous, performance-driven arts curriculum. TEP's Middle School Vocal Arts and Theater Teacher leads daily 45-minute music periods for students who have selected the Vocal Arts track. Students in this track receive focused instruction in vocal technique, choral performance, and stage presence while continuing to develop foundational music literacy skills. You will also provide basic theater instruction, including script interpretation, movement, and ensemble performance techniques. This is a unique opportunity to direct vocal and musical theater performances, prepare students for high school arts auditions, and shape a comprehensive middle school vocal program that builds student confidence, discipline, and artistic expression.
