About The Position

The VMWare Enterprise Engineer will manage and maintain a VMWare-centric enterprise, with a strong emphasis on Horizon VDI service offerings. This role involves maintaining services such as Windows AD, DNS, Federation Services, Exchange/E-mail, MS SQL, MS System Center, or their cloud provider equivalents. The engineer will ensure cloud and hybrid services are compatible for seamless customer offerings, monitor infrastructure resource usage to guarantee adequate compute and storage capacity, and continuously monitor IaaS and PaaS uptime. Responsibilities include responding to escalated technical issues, ensuring secure implementations using industry best practices and STIGs, optimizing software and hardware utilization, and planning for future capacity and feature requests. Familiarity with hosting platform environments, including Kubernetes, is required. The role also involves providing technical expertise and maintaining detailed architectural designs, plans, and documentation, including infrastructure, networks, storage, data sharing, recovery, incident response, and backup plans. On-call 24/7 support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 Help Desk, incident response, and mitigation is also a requirement.

Requirements

Two-plus years of demonstrated experience working as a system engineer leveraging large-scale cloud infrastructure as their primary application platform.
Resume demonstrates understanding of modern security best practices for cloud infrastructure and networks.
Familiarity with issue tracking tools such as ServiceNow, Gitlab, Vantive, etc.
Able to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot existing infrastructure and ensure any SLA/SLOs are met.
Excellent written communication skills to provide detailed documentation.
DOD8570 compliance at the Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II at the time of hire.
A security clearance up to TS/SCI level, Secret at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain VMWare centric enterprise, with emphasis on Horizon VDI service offerings.

Ensure cloud and hybrid services are compatible to enable seamless service offerings to customers.
Monitor usage of infrastructure resources to ensure adequate compute and storage capacity to meet mission requirements in all operated environments.
Continuously monitor IaaS and PaaS uptime in all operated environments to provide uptime and usage data to the Government upon request.
Respond to escalated technical issues from customers or other team members to resolution.
Ensure secure implementations of any infrastructure service or offering using industry best practices, STIGs, vendor recommendations, or as directed.
Ensure all necessary software and H/W requirements are utilized to full potential and make recommendations for any changes or updates for enterprise implementations.
Ensure highly available, secure, and easily accessible infrastructure for customer utilization.
Ensure future capacity and feature requests are captured and planned for implementation.
Provide technical expertise and maintenance of detailed architectural designs, plans, and documentation IAW industry standards.
Provide on-call 24/7 support via on-call schedule or as needed; on-call services may include but not be limited to: Tier 2 and Tier 3 Help Desk support, incident response, and incident mitigation.
