Be part of a new business venture in a demanding environment where you will work independently and interact with the local customer's leadership team and front-liners, as well as communicate remotely and effectively with HNI's leadership team to actively meet VMI development, execution maintenance objectives and demonstrating exceptional cooperative communication with HNI’s sales, operations, purchasing and sourcing teams. A successful VMI Specialist is committed to exceptional customer service, proactive account management, clear and frequent communication using system tools, while being proactive in an effort to create success for our customer and HNI. This role will initially partner with the customer’s onsite team to build, launch and flawlessly lead and execute the VMI program with a new business venture outside of our current HNI footprint. This position will lead all VMI activity for a defined site while partnering with HNI departments to define, grow and execute resources for consultative development and success with our customer.

  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum of 3 year related work experience in a customer facing position
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with ability to comfortably navigate our operations systems
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior time management skills
  • Commitment to a drug free workplace - includes screening for THC & participation in random testing program
  • Clear 7-year criminal history and DMV
  • Prolonged periods walking, moving, lifting and sitting at desk while working on a computer; using a phone
  • Manual dexterity with the ability to learn to read specification documents
  • Office setting with exposure to a warehouse environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25-50 lb boxed materials
  • Utilize personal vehicle as needed for occasional/limited travel in the area -must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable personal vehicle with compliant insurance coverage

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred - equivalent work experience considered
  • Prior team lead/supervisory/ experience a plus
  • Industrial, manufacturing or distribution experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide an Exceptional Customer Experience by having and promoting a Customer First mentality
  • Build strong relationships with our Customer to ensure set-up and service delivery standards are met/exceeded while serving as a consultative local partner to include providing expertise and developing trust and reliability at all levels of the Customer’s organization
  • Proactively seek Customer needs and translate/communicate them to our organization while coordinating the involvement of all needed company resources to ensure flawless execution at the customer’s place of business
  • Enter/ Communicate orders and quote requests in an expedient manner, to include follow-up in required timeframe
  • Expedite sales orders and work with purchasing and operations teams on inbound product requirements
  • Act as an advocate for the Customer – strive to constantly improve the buying, stocking & VMI execution experience with HNI
  • Proactively utilize regular inventory trending report to effectively manage inventory
  • Meet or exceed annual program maintenance & execution of the VMI program.
  • Demonstrate consultative-level knowledge of Hodell-Natco product/service offerings
  • Be willing to assist with warehouse and other support duties on behalf of the customers as opportunities arise
