About The Position

The VMI Specialist is the face of our Vendor Managed Inventory program across our customer base in the Mandan and Bismarck area. You will visit customer sites on a regular schedule, monitor and replenish inventory using a handheld scanner, spot new product opportunities, assist with hose assemblies, and serve as the direct connection between our customers and our inside and outside sales teams. You will drive a company vehicle, work independently, and build the kind of trusted relationships that keep customers loyal for years. Parker Hannifin product knowledge is a major plus in this role. Requirements

  • Mechanical or technical knowledge with the ability to identify fitting-appropriate thread types and fluid connector products.
  • Knowledge of warehouse processes and inventory control.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage an independent route schedule with strong time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a genuine commitment to customer service.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to pass an MVR driving check.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in warehouse and industrial customer environments.
  • High school diploma or GED; relevant experience is equally valued.

Nice To Haves

  • Parker Hannifin product knowledge, a significant advantage in this role.
  • Prior VMI, route sales, or industrial distribution experience.
  • Familiarity with handheld scanning equipment and basic data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Visit customers on an established weekly schedule using a handheld scanner to monitor inventory, replenish stock, and maintain defined min/max levels at each location.
  • Recommend changes to customer inventory levels based on actual usage and consumption trends.
  • Maintain correct tagging on product bins in customer facilities and assist customers with inventory space and product placement.
  • Make emergency visits to customers outside the regular schedule when urgent needs arise.
  • Identify opportunities to add new products to the VMI program and communicate those opportunities to inside and outside sales teams.
  • Take customer spot orders when needed and relay information accurately to the appropriate sales team member.
  • Handle on-site customer inquiries and recommend better applications or product improvements based on your knowledge of fluid connector and Parker Hannifin products.
  • Assist customers with hose assemblies as needed.
  • Keep management and sales personnel informed about customer projects, quotes, and significant interactions following each visit.
  • Check emails, phone messages, and texts on an ongoing basis to maintain regular and responsive communication with your customer base.
  • Ensure accuracy of shipments by reviewing delivery paperwork and packing slips; follow up to confirm customer satisfaction.
  • Address issues resulting in incorrect products, shortages, or late shipments promptly and professionally.
  • Abide by customer safety rules and attend required training at customer sites.
  • Provide required maintenance for the company vehicle and follow established driving policies.
  • Participate in sales meetings, promotions, blitzes, and training programs.
