About The Position

The VMI Route Driver is responsible for visiting VMI customers on a regular basis to deliver and load inventory into vending machines or parts cabinets. This role involves taking orders based on predetermined minimum/maximum quantities, communicating these orders for processing, and taking cylinder gas orders when needed. The driver will establish personal relationships with customers, assist with special orders or returns, and collaborate with the Site Manager, Outside Sales Rep, Inside Sales Rep, and VMI Customer Service Representative to ensure accurate inventory management and customer satisfaction. The position also requires maintaining good housekeeping at customer sites and in the company vehicle, identifying and resolving customer issues promptly, and maintaining order sheets on the computer. Additional duties may include operating a forklift (training provided) and contributing to the operations and sales team.

Requirements

1-3 years Welding/gas industry preferred
Awareness of Safety and the ability to adhere to safety practices even when “no one is looking” and be part of building a culture of safety
Provide excellent internal and external Customer Service
Computer Skills – ability to navigate and learn MATHESON’s Ordering system (some training will be provided)
Able to Plan and Organize the warehouse and an ordering / reordering system
Present a professional business image as the “face” of MATHESON to the customer when needed
Ability to Communicate externally with customers and internally with the MATHESON Site
Teamwork – understands being part of a team means the needs of the team come first
Able to take Coaching as a way of improvement of skills and practices over time
Ability to follow-up on time-sensitive issues at a customer site or at the MATHESON Site
Valid driver’s license
Ability to pick up 50 lbs.
Ability to work independently and in a timely manner
Ability to work well with others and work for the greater good of the business
AK Driver’s License Within 30 days

Responsibilities

Adhere to all Company safety policies, including those related to driving a Company vehicle, keeping up to date on MATHESON’s Safety trainings, and participation in daily Toolbox Talks.
Visit VMI customers on a regular basis, delivering and loading inventory into vending machine(s) or parts cabinet(s).
Take orders for the next delivery based on minimum/maximum quantities that are predetermined for each customer.
Communicate orders to Site office for processing.
Take cylinder gas orders at customer sites where needed, and communicate with the applicable sites and personnel so that orders can be placed and fulfilled.
Establish personal relationships with customers and end-users.
Assist customers with any special orders they may have or return issues.
Work with the Site Manager (SM), Outside Sales Rep (OSR) and Inside Sales Rep (ISR), and VMI Customer Service Representative to ensure that each customer’s Min/Max quantities make sense and are updated periodically as the business needs change.
Fulfill and plan deliveries to ensure uninterrupted supply of product to customer.
Work with the Site Manager and VMI Customer Service Rep to ensure the applicable site inventory is organized and up to the right stocking levels to be able to reliably service the customers.
Maintain good housekeeping at customer sites, applicable site and in the MATHESON VMI vehicle.
Identify problematic issues that if not addressed would result in an unsatisfied customer, notifying the right person or function promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and then following up to ensure resolution.
Maintain order sheets on computer by deleting and adding lines as necessary.
Perform other duties as needed, including being part of the operations and sales team, that may mean additional duties that contribute to the overall success of the business.
