About The Position

The VMI Route Driver is responsible for visiting VMI customers on a regular basis to deliver and load inventory into vending machines or parts cabinets. This role involves taking orders for the next delivery based on predetermined minimum/maximum quantities, communicating these orders for processing, and taking cylinder gas orders as needed. The driver will establish personal relationships with customers, assist with special orders or returns, and collaborate with the Site Manager, Outside Sales Representative, Inside Sales Representative, and VMI Customer Service Representative to ensure accurate inventory management and customer satisfaction. The position requires maintaining good housekeeping at customer sites and in the company vehicle, identifying and resolving customer issues promptly, and maintaining order sheets on the computer. Additional duties may include operating a forklift for loading trucks. This role is part of the operations and sales team and contributes to the overall success of the business.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years Welding/gas industry knowledge.
  • Awareness of Safety and the ability to adhere to safety practices.
  • Provide excellent internal and external Customer Service.
  • Computer Skills – ability to navigate and learn Nippon Sanso Matheson’s Ordering system.
  • Able to Plan and Organize the warehouse and an ordering / reordering system.
  • Present a professional business image.
  • Ability to communicate externally with customers and internally with the Nippon Sanso Matheson Site Team.
  • Understands being part of a team means the needs of the team come first.
  • Able to take Coaching as a way of improvement of skills and practices over time.
  • Ability to follow-up on time-sensitive issues at a customer site or at the Nippon Sanso Matheson Site.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pick up 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work well with others and work for the greater good of the business.
  • Driver License required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Company safety policies, including driving safety (e.g., Smith System) and safety trainings.
  • Participate in daily Tool Box Talks.
  • Visit VMI customers regularly to deliver and load inventory into vending machines or parts cabinets.
  • Take orders for the next delivery based on predetermined minimum/maximum quantities.
  • Communicate orders to the Site office for processing.
  • Take cylinder gas orders at customer sites and communicate with applicable sites and personnel for order fulfillment.
  • Establish personal relationships with customers and end-users.
  • Assist customers with special orders or return issues.
  • Collaborate with Site Manager, Outside Sales Rep, Inside Sales Rep, and VMI Customer Service Representative to ensure Min/Max quantities are accurate and updated.
  • Fulfill and plan deliveries to ensure uninterrupted product supply to customers.
  • Ensure applicable site inventory is organized and at appropriate stocking levels.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at customer sites, applicable site, and in the VMI vehicle.
  • Identify and promptly report problematic issues that could lead to customer dissatisfaction, and follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Maintain order sheets on computer by deleting and adding lines as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/needed, including contributing to the operations and sales team.
  • Drive a forklift to load trucks (training provided).
