This role is responsible for accurately and timely processing birth and death certificates in the NYSDOH electronic system, adhering to hospital, departmental, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- High School or GED
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Nice To Haves
- 1-2 years Customer service experience in a healthcare or related setting.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Customer service experience in a Healthcare or related setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Directly interacts with parents and family members to ensure that a birth certificate is created for each live birth and death certificate is created for each death.
- Enters and transmits all required data in a timely fashion and as required by the NYSDOH.
- Reports all induced and spontaneous terminations of pregnancy in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
- Reports sterilization data in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
- Communicates directly with new parents, physicians, vital statistics, funeral homes, and health department to expedite the processing of and timely submission of birth and/or death certificates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
