About The Position

Sunrun is seeking a Senior Visual / UI Designer who can excel in both high-impact marketing design and systematic UI work. This role requires a blend of brand storytelling, conversion-focused performance design, and scalable design systems. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, understanding that every touchpoint influences customer trust in clean energy. This position spans from initial customer contact (inbox, paid social) through to the final checkout process, ensuring a cohesive, beautiful, and impactful Sunrun experience across all platforms, including web and mobile UI.

Requirements

5+ years of professional design experience in a digital design role.
A strong portfolio showcasing mastery of layout, typography, color theory, and user-centered design.
Portfolio must include clear examples of both brand/marketing campaigns and UI/product design.
Experience in a digital design role, with a portfolio demonstrating both marketing design excellence and systematic UI/product work.
In-house or agency experience welcomed.

Nice To Haves

Experience with AI design tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, generative fills).
Familiarity with HTML/CSS constraints.

Responsibilities

Produce a wide range of digital assets including social media graphics (static and motion), display banners, email templates, web landing pages, and in-product UI screens.
Serve as a steward of the Sunrun visual identity, ensuring all output aligns with brand guidelines and pushing creative standards.
Translate complex solar technology and financial concepts into elegant, digestible infographics, visual narratives, and UI content patterns.
Deliver pixel-perfect mockups, prototypes, and production-ready assets for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Design intuitive, aesthetically refined interfaces for web and mobile products, focusing on layouts, color schemes, typography, icon sets, and interactive elements.
Help develop, maintain, and evolve Sunrun's design system, style guides, and UI pattern libraries.
Collaborate with front-end engineers, understanding HTML/CSS constraints to ensure design intent is met in implementation.
Partner with the Performance Marketing team to design high-impact ad creative for platforms like Meta, Google, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Develop multiple creative iterations for A/B testing to improve click-through, conversion, and retention rates.
Ensure all customer-facing touchpoints are cohesive, accessible, and conversion-optimized.
Collaborate with Copywriters, UX Designers, Product Managers, Marketing Leads, and Engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
Present and defend design decisions clearly, incorporating stakeholder feedback professionally.
Leverage AI design tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, Midjourney) to accelerate image creation and explore new concepts.
Stay ahead of digital design trends, UI/UX best practices, accessibility standards, and technology shifts.
Mentor and elevate junior and mid-level designers, providing feedback on craft, process, and professional growth.
Review and approve creative work to maintain quality and brand standards.
Manage workload distribution and creative priorities across a small team when needed.
Model design culture by setting a high bar for craft, collaboration, and creative thinking.
