About The Position

The Visual Inspector is responsible for performing precise and accurate reviews of castings to ensure customer requirements are met according to IIS instructions. This role involves various inspection stages including Rough Inspection, Final Inspection, and Shipping Inspection. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to follow written work instructions, and strong communication skills. The inspector will use measuring tools and hand gages, calibrate equipment, and maintain proper documentation for all inspected castings. This role also requires the ability to identify various casting defects and understand number sequences for accurate record-keeping.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with inspection processes with metal casting processes
• National Career Readiness Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform precise and accurate review of each casting to ensure customer requirements are met per IIS instructions.
• Obtain and maintain stamp qualification in all required areas.
• Pass a competency test to be issued an inspection certification stamp.
• Inspect finished or in-process castings and determine if the casting is accepted or rejected using measuring tools and following written work instructions.
• Communicate with various levels of employees, management, and departments.
• Use hand gages, such as micrometers and ultrasonic testers.
• Calibrate equipment and verify the testing equipment is calibrated prior to use.
• Reinspect castings for any nonconformance found during different inspection steps.
• Identify various defects for each casting through several different processes and stages.
• Accurately fill out QDIR cards for any nonconformance.
• Maintain proper documentation and records for each casting.
• Ensure the casting being inspected is the correct casting for the documentation provided by understanding number sequences for casting number, serial numbers, employee assigned numbers, and identifying numbers related to the traveler.
• Follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Cross-train within the classification.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Company.
