The Visual Field Technician (VFT) is primarily responsible for assisting providers by gathering data and performing tests relating to the patient’s visual field. This position maintains an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient and high-quality eye care. The VFT educates patients on testing procedures, monitors their progress, and facilitates testing. They serve as a liaison between physicians, patients, and other departments, providing patient-centric care while adhering to University of Miami policies and maintaining patient confidentiality. The role also involves ensuring equipment is calibrated, participating in clinical research, organizing rooms, and potentially traveling to satellite centers. The VFT must handle medical emergencies competently and adhere to hospital policy, always prioritizing patient safety.
