McFarland Clinic has an opening for an energetic a Visual Field Technician/Ophthalmic Assistant for its Ames Eye Care Center. The candidate is expected to be a team player, willing to learn basic ophthalmic techniques as well as the working of advanced ophthalmic equipment. Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or HiSET
Keyboard and computer experience.
Pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background checks are a condition of hire.

Nice To Haves

Ophthalmic experience preferred but not required/ on the job training available.
Excellent customer service skills and willing to be able to multi-task.
One year of work experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Educates patients and performs ancillary testing: Visual field, topo, and OCT.
Prepare patients for exam or treatments, takes visual acuity and performs basic screening tests.
Takes brief history and other medical information needed.
Answers patients questions and reinforces patient education and treatment.
