The Texas Tribune is looking for an afternoon/evening visual editor to support the visuals team in producing high-quality visual journalism on stories about politics and public policy across the state. You’ll work on dailies and breaking news on the photo desk, selecting images from original photo assignments and the wire to publish on our website and off-platform. You’ll have the opportunity to work on enterprise stories and collaborate with editors, reporters and independent visual journalists to create compelling stories for our readers. The candidate will understand that thoughtful and creative visuals on and off the website, which includes digital platforms like Instagram, helps our readers understand and connect to statewide issues. You are someone who thinks about how photos, videos, illustrations and/or design can not only bring a story to life but also makes the journalism better. The candidate will feel comfortable maintaining high editorial standards, planning visual directions and supporting freelancers in the field. The visuals editor is motivated by curiosity, guided by empathy and committed to collaboration.
