About The Position

This role is for a Visual Design Apprentice who will be responsible for designing the visual identity systems, product interfaces, and brand assets for new ventures. The position emphasizes exceptional visual craft and taste, with a focus on creating stop-scrolling, zoom-in, beautiful designs. The apprentice will work within Liminal, a Founders' Studio that co-builds with founders, providing expertise, capital, and access from founding to Series B. The role requires a strong visual designer who can translate positioning into a compelling visual identity and ensure aesthetic quality across all touchpoints.

Requirements

Exceptional visual craft demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
Strong command of typography, color theory, composition, and layout across brand and digital surfaces.
Ability to explain design choices beyond subjective 'vibes'.
Exquisite taste, informed by a broad consumption of design, art, architecture, fashion, and culture.
Tool fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to work fast, iterate without preciousness, and produce high-fidelity output.
Comfort with ambiguity, including working without pre-existing brand guides or design systems.
Ability to turn a founder's vision and a blank page into a cohesive and inevitable-looking company identity.
Independent thinking, ability to argue from first principles, and unafraid of unpopular positions.
Ability to disagree and commit.

Nice To Haves

Real UX instincts, including information architecture, user flows, wireframing, and usability audits.

Responsibilities

Design visual identity and brand systems, including typography, color, layout grids, and iconography.
Create clean, visually engaging UI for early-stage products such as landing pages, dashboards, onboarding flows, and marketing pages.
Produce high-fidelity output and collaborate directly with engineering to ensure design implementation.
Develop brand assets at scale, including decks, social content, one-pagers, investor materials, and event collateral.
Build and maintain coherent design languages and design systems for growing ventures.
