About The Position

The Ministry of Arts, Culture and Status of Women works to improve Albertans' quality of life through support of cultural development, historical preservation and increased gender equality. The museums and historic sites managed by the ministry are dedicated to preserving Alberta’s rich history and sharing it with visitors in an interactive and engaging manner. Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that preserves and interprets over 6,000 years of Indigenous buffalo culture through vast landscapes, exhibits, and diverse programming.

Requirements

A High School Diploma, or a GED/CAEC credential, is required for this position.
Equivalency: One year of related work experience equals one year of post-secondary education.

Nice To Haves

Post-secondary education in a related discipline is considered an asset.
Knowledge of Blackfoot, or other Indigenous and international languages, is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Greeting visitors
Processing admissions and memberships
Answering questions in person and by phone
Giving short orientations
Completing retail sales in the gift shop
Restocking merchandise
Helping manage visitor flow
Supporting special events
Maintaining clean, well-organized public spaces
Following established cash-handling and sales procedures
Upholding strong standards of hospitality, cultural awareness, and customer service
Demonstrating systems thinking by understanding how each guest interaction contributes to the overall visitor experience and supports the operations of a World Heritage Site.
Adjusting to changing priorities, fluctuating visitor volumes, shifting schedules, and guest needs in a fast-paced environment.
Working closely with teammates, supervisors, and other programs across the site to ensure smooth, respectful, and efficient service delivery.
Addressing visitor concerns, adapting to unexpected situations, and offering thoughtful, practical solutions that enhance the overall guest experience.
