About The Position

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Denver (DU) is seeking to build an academically and culturally inclusive faculty and staff. They are inviting applications for multiple full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions as a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor in Computer Science. The department has a particular interest in applicants with strengths in CS education, CS theory, data science, algorithms, artificial intelligence, games, and security and privacy. These positions are for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning September 1, 2026. The appointments are for nine-month terms, with the possibility of extension. There is potential to incorporate course development and/or teaching an elective course in the candidate’s area. The department is also open to considering applicants who may not be available full-time but are interested in teaching part-time, and notes that some professional program courses are offered after normal business hours, which may suit those who prefer to teach in the evening. Specific areas of interest for course development and teaching include CS education, CS theory/algorithms, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), CS with a Game focus, and Security and Privacy.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in computer science or a related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • Teaching experience in a college or university setting.
  • Ability to teach both undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Computer Science as evidenced by background or teaching experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departmental, school, and university teachers and researchers.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or terminal degree in Computer Science or related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary problems that contribute to the public good.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage student populations in computer science.
  • Ability to teach both graduate courses in Computer Science as evidenced by background or teaching experience.
