About The Position

This project involves the addition and implementation of statistical checks in modern Monte Carlo codes. Modern Monte Carlo codes often rely on the historical basis of legacy codes to assert the validity of data produced in simulation via tallies of particles during transport. As modern Monte Carlo codes enter new application spaces the historical backing of these validity assertions begins to erode. There is a rising need for the implementation of advanced statistical capabilities as well as opportunities to improve on the state of the art in terms of both simulation performance and post simulation inference in of statistical moments of tally data. Modifications to transport code will require knowledge of C++ while most (all) post-procesing work will occur in Python.
